McObject Joins American Arium Japan In Targeting Japanese Embedded Technology Market

October 1, 2003 — American Arium Japan Corporation, the Tokyo-based distributor of American Arium debug and integration tools as well as protocol stacks, drivers and other key embedded systems development products, will market and sell McObject’s eXtremeDB in-memory database system in the Japanese market, the companies announced.

In American Arium Japan Corporation, McObject gains an experienced partner in one of the world’s manufacturing and technology development centers. American Arium Japan’s growing customer list includes Elpida Memory, Fanuc, Fujitsu, Hitachi, IBM Japan, Intel, Konica, Matsushita Electric Industrial (National/Panasonic), Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, NEC, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba, and Toshiba TEC.

eXtremeDB will appeal to Japanese firms that need reliable, real-time data management to support increasingly sophisticated product features,” says CEO Hiroshi Kakiuchi.

“As an in-memory database, eXtremeDB delivers the instant responsiveness demanded in emerging intelligent device-based applications, such as home networking equipment and digital consumer electronics. In addition, eXtremeDB’s very small RAM and CPU requirements are compelling to our customers who seek to minimize hardware costs in OEM applications,” Kakiuchi said.

Kakiuchi names telematics, communications infrastructure, gaming devices and industrial control as other promising Japanese market segments for eXtremeDB.

“Today, with higher demands on embedded software, it makes economic sense for developers to acquire best-in-class components from a technology expert with broad expertise, such as American Arium Japan. We are happy our proven eXtremeDB embedded, in-memory database is now part of that firm’s overall embedded systems development solution,” said Steve Graves, McObject CEO.
