The eXtremeSQL engine will implicitly convert most SQL types to successfully perform statements. The implicit type conversions are the following:
DATE to TIME (TIMESTAMP)
INTEGER to NUMERIC or FLOAT
CHAR to FLOAT
CHAR to VARCHAR
BINARY to VARBINARY
When performing
insertorupdateassignment operations it may be necessary for eXtremeSQL to coerce values to the appropriate type. The following are implicit type coercions (that in some cases can lead to loss of precision):INT to FLOAT
FLOAT to INT
VARCHAR to CHAR
VARBINARY to BINARY
In addition the
cast()operator can be used to explicitly cast values of one type to another. Please see the Assignment Operators page for further details.
