Database management system experts since 2001.

McObject began when its founders — senior executives and technologists in the database software and embedded systems industries — identified a new need for an in-memory embedded database in what used to be considered primarily hardware devices: telecom and networking equipment, industrial controllers, avionics and the like. These new embedded systems demanded small, fast, proven data management technology.

This led to the company’s founding in 2001 and the launch of the eXtremeDB In-memory Database System (IMDS) product family, the first embedded DBMS created specifically for embedded systems. The technology penetrated virtually every embedded market sector, enabling data-intensive applications to achieve unmatched performance, reliability and efficiency.

Since 2001 our commitment to clients is ensuring that eXtremeDB supports their current needs and evolves to support future demands.  We strive to provide our customers with the tools they need to enable optimization of their technology strategy.

“After a stringent review process, we selected eXtremeDB because of its scalability; outstanding performance due to its sharding capability; and our confidence in McObject’s ability to offer a solid support team.”

Organizations using eXtremeDB reap tangible benefits through higher developer productivity, faster time-to-market, more advanced features and lower manufacturing costs (due to eXtremeDB’s frugal RAM and CPU demands).

But eXtremeDB’s impact reverberated beyond embedded software. As the product gained features to support enterprise-level scalability and interoperability, developers of high-performance desktop-, workstation- and server-based systems discovered a database system designed with a relentless focus on efficiency and speed. For example, eXtremeDB’s short execution path (code size is just 200K) complements the quest to slash latency in capital markets applications; and its 64-bit support and SQL (including JDBC and ODBC), position eXtremeDB as a feature-rich database system.

In 2021 McObject developers felt the rapid growth of increasingly complex real-time embedded systems, often requiring sophisticated sensor data fusion, brought with it the urgent demand for a true hard real-time database management system. This led to the release of eXtremeDB/rt, the first-ever commercially supported deterministic database system. Before eXtremeDB/rt, developers either had to invent their own solution for database transaction deadline management or integrate a non-real-time embedded database and hope it would be good enough.

eXtremeDB/rt is the first commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) embedded database system to enforce database transaction deadlines, making it uniquely suitable for embedded systems with hard real-time constraints. As an ACID-compliant DBMS, eXtremeDB/rt guarantees internal consistency, but with real-time features also guarantees external consistency when transactions complete within their deadlines.

While still anticipating and meeting the needs of embedded systems, today McObject is equally focused on the High Performance Computing sector that includes financial systems, e-commerce, IoT Big Data analytics and more. Customers today include GoldenSource, Tradestation, ViaSat, Dalian Commodity Exchange and others.

McObject has been anticipating the needs of intelligent, connected devices with eXtremeDB since 2001.  We are proud to have grown to over 30,000,000 deployments world-wide, and invite you to learn why.
