Overview
The SPEED Kit™ (Small Profile
Embedded Engine for
Devices) combines McObject's eXtremeDB™
in-memory embedded database with mycable's
XXS1500™ MIPS System. The Kit is designed for
fast set-up and installation, allowing you to be productive in minutes. The kit
contains all the hardware, software and tools you need to start writing
application code for your data-intensive product immediately. All components are
integrated and ready to run so you don't waste any time configuring individual
components. The Kit includes an extensive list of example programs demonstrating
how various eXtremeDB functions and features operate.
Product picture
By assembling and integrating best-in-class software and hardware, the SPEED
Kit reduces time-to-market for many products including consumer electronics,
monitoring and intelligent industrial controllers. Through the two products'
uniquely frugal resource requirements, the kit adds the critical advantage of
lower component cost, both for prototypes and for mass-produced end-user
devices.

Hardware
The SPEED Kit XXS1500 device is the XXS1500 module in a case with passive
cooling, not much bigger than a cigarette box. The processor is an Au1500
(MIPS32) from AMD. It combines a high level of system integration and computing
performance with very low power consumption. The XXS1500 device features the
following:
- Au1500 with 500 MHz
- 2 x Fast Ethernet
- 1 x USB Host (1.1)
- 2 x Seriell RS232
- 64 or 128 MByte SDRAM
- 16 MByte flash
- CompactFlash slot
- Stereo audio in & out (AC97-Codec on board)
- DSUB25 connector with 16 GPIOs, PCI USB Device (1.1), reset, wakeup and
software switchable 3.3V and 5V supply with 300 mA each.
The device module has a power consumption of 3-4 Watt maximum.
