New eXtremeDB Data Relay Adds Fine-Grained Data-Sharing Between Real-Time and Enterprise Systems
McObject has released eXtremeDB Data Relay, a new technology that provides a key building block for fast and flexible data-sharing between real-time applications based on eXtremeDB, and external systems such as enterprise DBMSs. Data Relay helps developers by simplifying the code that “looks inside” database transactions for changes that should be relayed. It also guarantees maximum efficiency by eliminating the CPU-intensive task of monitoring database activity. Target uses include financial trading and telecommunications. Data Relay is provided as a new feature within eXtremeDB Transaction Logging edition. Read more.
Perst Gains Support for Windows Phone 7 Smartphone Platform
McObject has added Windows Phone 7 – Microsoft’s soon-to-be-released smartphone platform – to the list of operating systems supported by the Perst for .NET object-oriented, open source database system. Developers doubting that WP7 devices’ tight memory, CPU and storage constraints will permit use of a “real” embedded database can dispel their uncertainties by looking toward the BlackBerry development community, where technology providers have incorporated Perst into a wide range of smartphone applications serving markets from financial to customer relationship management (CRM) to agriculture.
