Introducing eXtremeDB 4.0, Our Fastest, Most Scalable Real-Time DBMS Ever

McObject’s new eXtremeDB version 4.0 adds expanded development capabilities, greater speed and resource-efficiency, and unprecedented scalability. Enhancements include:
  • Multi-Version Concurrency Control (MVCC) Transaction Manager, which can dramatically improve scalability and performance
  • A new concept of logical database devices, which simplifies creating a database and adds techniques for performance optimization and recovery
  • New, native Uniform Database Access (UDA) Application Programming Interface (API)
  • Support for KD-Tree database index; all indexes optimized to leverage the MVCC Transaction Manager and deliver faster performance

New Java Native Interface (JNI) Extends eXtremeDB Benefits to Java Developers

McObject has released a Java Native Interface (JNI) for the eXtremeDB embedded database. eXtremeDB JNI offers the fastest possible database solution in Java, and underscores McObject’s momentum in broadening eXtremeDB’s appeal to Java-based embedded and real-time enterprise systems.

eXtremeDB is increasingly used in highly scalable finance, e-commerce, social network and other Web-based applications, to add benefits of an in-memory object cache while avoiding drawbacks of some so-called “NoSQL” solutions, such as high storage demands and lack of safeguards on data integrity. Upcoming Live Webinar:
Boost Performance and Minimize Footprint with Specialized Data Indexes

The right data index data can boost lookup speed logarithmically. But often, due to its familiarity, the only index considered is the B-Tree.

Attend our Webinar on January 28 to learn how specialized indexes can be more efficient, enabling key design tradeoffs and benefits for applications such as geospatial/mapping and IP communications. McObject CEO Steve Graves presents indexes including the R-Tree, T-Tree, Patricia trie, Hash, and others, and takes your questions during live Q&A. Three sessions are offered, for a global audience. McObject CEO and Co-Founder Launches Blog

In his new blog, McObject CEO Steve Graves comments on news, technology and business trends of interest to the development community. Recent posts have analyzed claims of solid state drive (SSD) performance, database locking in multi-threaded applications, and the “roll your own” approach to software development. Jease Integrates Perst All-Java Database for POJO-Based Web Apps

Jease (www.jease.org), a content management framework, has added support for McObject’s Perst embedded database. With Jease, Perst becomes the persistence engine for highly customized, content- and database-driven Web applications that leverage the productivity and efficiency of working with “plain old Java objects” (POJOs). “Perst worked right out of the box, which is very impressive. It seems to be one of the most advanced open source, object-oriented databases in the Java world,” said Maik Jablonski, Jease founder. Read more.

eXtremeDB Accelerates Hotel Management Software as a Service (SaaS)

Hetras GmbH (www.hetras.com), a company founded by hospitality and software industry veterans, has incorporated McObject’s eXtremeDB in-memory database system (IMDS) in its new Web-based hotel management software as a service (SaaS) application. By incorporating eXtremeDB as a highly scalable cache for back-end data, the company’s hosted HMS product is faster, more reliable and delivers richer detail than other solutions in the market.
