McObject Selects SWD Software Ltd. as Partner in Russian Federation

November 14, 2002 — McObject, developer of the eXtremeDB in-memory database system (IMDS), has chosen SWD Software Ltd. as its distributor in the Russian Federation and former Soviet republics. As a provider of a widely used real-time operating system (RTOS), and as one of the largest software companies in its market, SWD Software delivers marketing and technical prowess that will help McObject succeed in Russia’s expanding embedded development sector.

Based in St. Petersburg, Russia, SWD Software currently distributes popular RTOS and development tools from QNX Software Systems. Canada-based QNX Software Systems is also a McObject partner, and its RTOS is widely used to build the kinds of intelligent devices targeted by McObject. In addition to distributing QNX RTOS and other embedded development products, SWD Software provides a wide spectrum of services including technical support, consulting and certified technical training.

SWD Software, which is well known in Russia for handling clients’ complex development and custom engineering tasks, announced plans to use eXtremeDB in its own development and consulting projects.

“As embedded systems expand their features, they demand reliable, high-performance data management running alongside a solid RTOS foundation. McObject’s eXtremeDB offers a full-scale, yet lightweight, database optimized for fast, in-memory data access and storage. With these unparalleled advantages, eXtremeDB is an excellent fit with SWD Software’s existing products and will enhance our customer solutions,” said SWD CEO Alex Kondratuk.

“McObject’s in-memory database complements the performance, reliability and footprint advantages inherent in the QNX Neutrino RTOS, making eXtremeDB the database management system of choice for embedded and real-time systems running QNX Neutrino RTOS,” said SWD Sales Director Leonid Agafonov.

“The Russian embedded software sector draws on a tradition of technical innovation and a pool of very talented developers. We are pleased to form an alliance with SWD Software and feel they are the ideal partner to help us communicate eXtremeDB’s value in this market,” said Steve Graves, McObject co-founder and CEO.
