McObject Selects Germany’s ARS 2000 As Key European Partner

March 27, 2002 — Filling in a key part of its global distribution network, McObject has signed embedded and mobile development specialist ARS Software GmbH as distributor in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

ARS Software, which re-sells communications protocols, development platforms and related software tools, “shares our drive to empower companies building next-generation device-based software,” McObject President and CEO Steve Graves said.

“McObject’s eXtremeDB provides the fast, reliable and flexible data management needed in such systems. ARS Software’s technical expertise and industry knowledge make it a strong partner in selling and supporting eXtremeDB in the growing, highly competitive German-speaking embedded technology markets,” he said.

Industries to be targeted by the companies include telecommunications (switching and classical PBXs), measurement equipment, multimedia devices, industrial automation, and automotive production and service, said Rudi Latuske, ARS Software general manager.

“Our customers demand a database with greater performance than conventional DBMSs. eXtremeDB provides this through its highly efficient in-memory operation,” Latuske said. “Developers also want to be able to customize the data management within their applications, and will appreciate eXtremeDB’s developer tools,” including its rich API and support for complex data types and query methods, he said.

ARS Software also chose to distribute McObject’s eXtremeDB rather than competing database products because of its support for many platforms, including Linux, Microsoft Windows Embedded platforms, and real-time operating systems.
