McObject and Beijing Leadingtek Target China’s Embedded Systems Market

January 6, 2003 — In a key decision involving its plans in one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing technology markets, McObject has chosen Beijing Leadingtek Realtime Technology as its partner for marketing and selling the eXtremeDB in-memory database system in China.

Beijing Leadingtek’s successful track record providing embedded systems software solutions—including RTOS technology from QNX Software Systems Ltd.—to leading Chinese technology and manufacturing firms will enable it to quickly create a strong market presence for McObject’s in-memory database for intelligent devices, McObject President Steve Graves said.

Beijing Leadingtek President Jersey Wang pointed to “major opportunities” that exist for eXtremeDB in telecommunications, industrial control and other embedded systems market segments in China.

“Since China is a developing country, industrial automation and telecom is growing very rapidly, compared to North American and European markets,” Wang said. “China’s engineers appreciate the opportunity to build this infrastructure using state-of-the-art hardware and software, such as McObject’s eXtremeDB.”

“We believe eXtremeDB’s unsurpassed data management performance, reliability and minimal RAM and CPU requirements will drive its adoption in a variety of industries. Other opportunities include in-car navigation and banking terminals,” he said.

Beijing Leadingtek customers include Siemens, Shanghai Bell, Sifang Protection and Automation Engineering, Luneng Control Engineering, Xuji Group as well as government academies for science, railway engineering, electronics and aerospace, Wang said. Industries in China served by the company include telecommunication, networking, automation and control engineering, railway engineering, robotics technology, scientific research, electronics, point-of-sale, and security systems.
